I took this whitetail buck with my 300 Win Mag 180 grain bullet, ranged at 243 yards. This was a DIY hunt on public land. He has 6 points on one side and 5 points on the other.
I got up early three weekends in a row, and walked for about a total of 20-25 miles passing up 20-25 smaller bucks before I got a shot at this one. I am a big proponent of only harvesting mature bucks, if you shoot the first buck that you see each year you’ll never give yourself a shot at a getting a buck like this one.
