I don’t consider myself a competitive shooter, and if you ever get the chance to see me shoot you will know why! I like to shoot archery or firearms at least once a week May through September, because I feel that you owe it to the animal that you are hunting to be a good shot. You really don’t want to make a poor shot and have that animal get away, therefore suffering until it dies. I like to shoot in Montana’s Big Sky State Games every summer. The Big Sky State Games offer a variety of competitive shooting events from BB gun to high powered rifle,all of the shotgun disciplines and archery. Although it’s not the Olympics, and the shoots are just for fun and bragging rights, it stills feels pretty good to win a medal. This year I competed in 22 caliber silhouettes, sporting clays and five stand. I took a Bronze medal in sporting clays and a silver in five stand. As I am writing this Blog the silhouette results have not been posted yet. Although I was having a hard time shooting silhouettes, because the person shooting to the left of me would miss, and then I would hear f@#$, and then he would miss again and say C!@# S$%^&*(. Oh well you get the point, it’s hard to hold you sights steady while you are laughing. I recommend trying out a competitive shoot, because it forces you to shoot under pressure, which will help your shooting out in the field.
